Getting to know me...

  I love blogging!
I have met so many nice people through the blog world. It is really amazing and encouraging to find so many other Christian young girls blogs. A blog to me is so much more special than a face book page or any other social media page. Not that there is anything wrong with them at all. It is just that a blog is so much more personal! I love meeting other Christian girls through their blogs!

With all that being said, I thought it might be nice to share a little bit more about myself. More than I typed up in the About Me tab;) I don't think I am interesting or a great person or anything. I just wanted to share a little bit about my life and who I am so you can get to know me a little better! And hopefully leave lots of comments because I want to get to know you better too! I will probably ramble, and go off on rabbit trails, but I'll try my best to just stick to the basics!:D

I live on the outskirts of a small town in North Carolina. I am the oldest of three kids(2 girls and a boy.) I was home schooled for eleven years of school. My mom was my teacher for all that time. I am now a recent high school graduate. She is planning to continue homeschooling my brother and sister. People have such strange ideas about home school. I had so many people ask me do I do school in my pajamas. I answer with,"You don't know my Mom!" I have NEVER done school in my pajamas. My Mom has a schedule. Get up at 7:30,get dressed, do chores, eat breakfast, read Bible, and be in the schoolroom by 9:00. Don't get the impression my mom is some kind of a drill Sergeant! She isn't! There were always days when we would be allowed to stay in bed a little later:) Another question I get a lot is,"Don't you miss having friends?" I honestly believe that some people think that all home schoolers live out somewhere miles away from everyone, with a barb wire fence all around their house! Home school has never been a prison for me. It hasn't made me socially deprived. I have friends. We are very involved in our church, but even if we weren't, there are home school groups and co-ops to get involved in! I think being home schooled does shelter you from some things. Things like drugs, alcohol, wild parties, and then things that are taught in some schools that forces the world's views down kid's throats. I got a job at sixteen. Of course, then I was exposed to some things that I wasn't used too. Fowl language etc. But I had a stable foundation. I live in this world so of course I will be exposed to some things. I think being home schooled in a Christian home helped me stay grounded after I had to go out into the world. I plan to home school my kids one day...just in case anyone was wondering;)

Like I said, I live in a Christian home. Of course we have no choice what home we are born into and I had nothing to do with being born here in America to Christian parents. I don't think that I am better than anyone else because of it. It is only by the grace of God that I have Christian parents to raise me in the right way. They are my heroes. They aren't perfect. They make mistakes. But I would give anything to be like them. Family is important to me. We are a tight bunch! I don't want  anyone talking bad about them that's for sure! ;)

I believe in eternal salvation. I believe that God can and will save anybody as long as they call on Him. I believe in the amazing grace that saved my soul. I believe that Christ died for me on a cross and rose again on the third day. I believe in His amazing forgiveness. I have peace when I lay my head down at night that if I was to die, I would go straight to Heaven. I didn't always have that peace. There was a time that I struggled with doubts. I was tormented by the awful thought that I was headed to Hell. I remembered talking with someone and they prayed with me when I was five years old. I believe a child can get saved at five, but I just couldn't ever remember saying that prayer and it bothered me. So I got my Mom to pray with me at twelve years old. I asked Jesus to come inside my heart. I got it settled in my heart and now I have perfect peace. I have a special place to go back to where I remember asking Jesus to come into my heart and save me.

I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.
One man,one woman, one lifetime.
I believe that life is precious. I believe abortion is wrong.
It is evil and wicked. It is murder. I believe that true love is pure.

I love old fashioned things! I love movies like Pride&Prejudice,Sense&Sensibility, Anne of Green Gables. Then I also love the more modern movies like,The Lord of the Rings,The Hobbit,Narnia,The Avengers, and Star Wars.
I love to read as well. My book collection is quite an assortment plus a library card! My favorite books are mysteries! I also enjoy books that are set way back in time.
Music has always been a great interest of mine. It is something special I share with my Dad and his side of the family. They all play instruments and sing. My Dad and I play guitar(he taught me) and I play piano. He also plays mandolin and he likes to play around with the fiddle occasionally. I have a banjo, but I haven't learned how to play it yet;)

I enjoy being artsy and making things! Photography has become a passion of mine! I want to eventually become a professional photographer and own my own business. I am not exactly sure if there is anything in particular that draws me to photography. I love everything about it. I have started to like colorful shots of anything, not just people.Things like colors in nature and patterns on buildings. Anything that catches the eye deserves a picture!

Wow this was a long post! I guess I did ramble quite a bit,but I hope it helped you get to know me a little better! If you have any more questions or just wanna talk, drop me an email! I promise to respond as soon as I can!
Have a great week you guys!
-Emily

Lol, I love how you mentioned the sheltered home school life. I go that all the time. When they ask about it I point out my husband, good job and friends. :) I love that author Georgette Heyer. She has regency era books and mystery books. I am excited you are wanting to do photography, it is a ton of fun! : )
