Your Clothes Say It For You: Part Two-What is immodesty?

We have reached part two of this modesty series:) Yay!
So, what exactly is immodesty?? The Bible doesn't say specifically that we should not wear this or that. When I am curious about how a woman should act or dress, I find my answers in Proverbs.
Proverbs 7:10 says,"And,behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart." It refers to the attire of a harlot. Lets break this down a little. My personal opinion is that "the attire of a harlot" is any clothing that draws attention to parts of females that should be kept covered.
Some good tests to do on yourself when you put on an outfit:
The Hallelujah Test: Raise your hands above your head to make sure that your shirt does not show any of your stomach.
Three Fingers Test: Place three of your fingers right below your collar bone. Your shirt shouldn't be any lower than this.
Up and Down: When you are standing make sure your skirt, dress, etc, comes far enough below your knee so that when you sit down, it wont be above your knee.
Bending: Bend over in front of a mirror and check your shirt and the back of your skirt, dress, etc to make sure that no one is going to get a shock!=O
Remember the L's: Long,Loose, and Lifted. Our pastor reminds us of this alot. Its a very good thing to remember!
These are some things that I have heard at Ladies meetings and other places. They will really help us in our modesty! I'll admit that I don't always do these tests, but I'm learning from these posts as well! I think that each of us females should resolve to stay modest. A good idea(which I just thought of this very second and am excited to try!) would be to use your artistic ability to make a framed picture for your wall. A picture that has a promise(that is in your own words!) to stay modest and pure for your future husband and to be pleasing to the Lord. Maybe this project will be part of part three of this series!
God bless you all!
Emily
