Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

I know this has been a long time in coming, but here is the recipe for the BEST homemade cinnamon rolls! Yummmmmmmmy!

Ingredients:
1 pkg active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 cup of scalded milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp salt
 3 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 egg,beaten

Cinnamon filling:
4 tbsp butter softened
1 cup sugar(granulated or brown)
2 tsp cinnamon
Soften yeast in warm water(110 degrees)
To scalded milk, add sugar, shortening, and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add 1&1/2 cups flour to liquid mixture. Beat well then add yeast and beaten egg. After beating in the yeast and egg,add the remainder of the flour to form a soft dough. Place dough in a greased bowl turning once to grease both sides and cover.
Let it rise until it is double the size.(1&1/2 to 2 hours)
I didn't snap a picture until we had already used half of it;)
Turn out on lightly floured surface and roll 1/2 of the dough into a 16x8 inch rectangle. Spread dough with 2 tbsp of softened butter and then sprinkle with 1/2 of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Roll up starting with the long side as if it were a jellyroll. Cut in 1/2-3/4 inch slices and place in greased baking pans with edges almost touching. Aluminum cake pans work great! Continue the same process with the other 1/2 of the batter. LET ROLLS RISE until double BEFORE baking.(We almost missed this part!)

Bake 375 degrees for approximately 20 minutes.
Frost with glaze made of confectioners' sugar and enough milk or cream to make glaze spreadable.

YUMMMMM!
This recipe also makes good dinner rolls!
This recipe was copied from Arleen's Cookbook. She gets the credit for these luscious treats!
Try it!
